'Fantastic Four' reboot lines up director, writer

Ready for a comeback?
Nothing was terribly wrong with the recent "Fantastic Four" movies.

Ioan Gruffudd (Dr. Reed Richards), Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm), Chris Evans (Johnny Storm) and Jessica Alba (Sue Storm) were fine in their roles. Although, if you think about it, why would you cast Jessica Alba as a character who turns invisible?

(Evans, of course, also struck comic book movie gold as Captain America.)

But the movies - the 2005 original and 2007 sequel - just weren't, well, fantastic.

So Fox is taking another shot.

The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision reports that director John Trank has been signed for the project, and should soon be joined by writer Jeremy Slater.

No word on casting. Stay tuned.
