NYCC ' 14 Friday

New York Comic Con '14
Friday

Day two at NYCC and it was announced that the attendance for this convention will have more people attending it than San Diego Comic Con last July.  That’s a lot of fans of all things geek, cult and comic books to be having a great time in one building and lucky for us the Javits Center is a pretty big building.  Plus there are other venues in NYC that the convention is making use of.  On that fact Friday this year did seem a lot more packed than last year and it was pretty noticeable early in the day on the main floor that the Friday crowd was just like Saturday last year.  So many people and it makes me shudder what Saturday will be like crowd wise.

Batman creative artist Greg Capullo and writer Scott Snyder

Friday started off with the mad dash or run or sprint of absolute mayhem to get to the back of artist alley to get in line for autographs with DC Comics super popular Batman creative crew of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.   This old man with bad knees made it to the line and was successful in getting my books signed.  It did suck running at a con but unfortunately that is just how it is with a line that gets cut 10 minutes when the show opens and two popular creators.   But it is good to know that I still got it.

Continuing with the Batman theme I stood in line to meet the voice of Batman Kevin Conroy.  I have been a big fan of the Batman Adventures animated series and the other batman animated shows and movies Kevin Conroy has done as Batman.  I’ve been trying to get his autograph for a long time and finally had the opportunity to do so on Friday.  I did not care that it took 90 minutes in line, well my feet and knees did, as I got an autograph and a photo with him.  I did find it weird though when talking to him and hearing Batman but not seeing Batman.  It was just a big thrill.

I only did one panel and the one I did attend was The Elementary panel.  It was a pretty good panel as the showed the Season 3 opener.  It was good to be able to see it before everyone else.  Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu answered questions from the fans and they were pretty secretive about what is coming in Season 3 which is understandable as they want you to watch the new season but they did drop a few hints.   The Main Hall was packed to capacity for the Elementary panel and it is good to see the US Sherlock Holmes show get some love.

Saturday should be interesting as the biggest cosplay contest will be taking place.  Haven’t seen a lot of cosplay costumes besides a few Doctors and Spider – Man’s walking around but I believe Saturday will have quite a few cosplayers in attendance.
