Doctor Who - Details on Classic Doctors, New Monsters Vol 1

Out this month is a box set that pits Classic Doctors against enemies from the new show.  Doctors 5,6,7 and 8 take center stage in this intriguing set of adventures that is sure to bring new possibilities in the Doctor Who Big Finish Universe.  You can order this box set from the Big Finish website.

1.1 Fallen Angels by Phil Mulryne

2015: When sightseers Joel and Gabby Finch encounter a strange man in Edwardian cricketing garb in the Sistine Chapel, their honeymoon suddenly takes a terrifying turn.

1511: Michelangelo is commissioned to create some very special sculptures by a mysterious sect. But as he carves, angels seem to emerge fully-formed from the rock. Almost as if they are alive…

From Michelangelo’s workshop to the catacombs of Rome, the Fifth Doctor must keep his wits about him and his eyes wide open as he confronts the Weeping Angels.

1.2 Judoon in Chains  by Simon Barnard and Paul Morris

The Sixth Doctor is no stranger to courtroom drama, but faces a very different challenge when he prepares to defend a most unusual Judoon.

After an environmental clearance mission goes wrong, Captain Kybo of the Nineteenth Judoon Interplantary Force is stranded in Victorian England, bound in chains, an exhibit in a circus show. But he has allies: Eliza Jenkins – known to audiences as ‘Thomasina Thumb’ – and the larger-than-life ‘clown’ in the colourful coat.

Uncovering a trail of injustice and corruption, the Doctor and Kybo soon find themselves on trial for their lives…

1.3 Harvest of the Sycorax by James Goss

In the far future, humanity has a remedy for everything. Whatever the problem, Pharma Corps has the answer and a designer disease tailored to every human’s blood-type. Zanzibar Hashtag has no need to be sad, scared, stressed, or depressed ever again.

That is, until vicious aliens arrive on her space station intent on opening its Vault. What will it mean for the human race if the Sycorax take control of what’s inside?

And when the Seventh Doctor arrives on the scene, can he convince Zanzibar to care about her life long enough to help him?

1.4 The Sontaran Ordeal by Andrew Smith

An instant of the Time War brings centuries of conflict to the planet Drakkis, and the Eighth Doctor is there to witness the terrible results.

A Sontaran fleet, desperate to join the epic conflict, follows in its wake to take advantage of the fallout. But when Commander Jask is beamed down to the ravaged surface, there is more to his arrival than first appears.

Soon, an unlikely champion joins forces with the Time Lord to fight for the future of her world, and together they must face the Sontaran Ordeal…

Doctor Who Magazine Issue 502 Cover and Details

Out today in the UK is issue 502 of Doctor Who Magazine where they start to look ahead to Series 10 of Doctor Who with an interview with Steven Moffat.  You can pick up Doctor Who Magazine at your local newsagent or when it comes out in the USA at Barnes and Noble.

As Matt Lucas and Pearl Mackie join Peter Capaldi in the TARDIS, we ask showrunner Steven Moffat how it feels to be working on his final series…

“When I agreed to do one more run, I thought, ‘Sod it, I’m not doing the march to the scaffold,’” says Steven. “I want it to feel like a brand new show. I want it to feel like Episode 1 of a new series. I want to leave like it’s all just beginning.”

The issue also includes an interview with casting director Andy Pryor, who talks about the decision to cast Pearl Mackie as the Doctor’s new companion, Bill…

“Pearl has this sort of boldness, and an ability to tap into the humour of the part without making it an overtly comic performance,” says Andy. “From the word go, she made the part her own. She found things in the part that none of us had envisaged, and she made Bill a rounded person.”

Into The Time Vortex Podcast Update

Our latest and greatest podcast series is doing fantastic and we are still not even a year old!  Right around this time though last year there was talk of creating a Doctor Who themed podcast series and here we are going strong.  We currently have 18 episodes online and have recorded an additional 6 more episodes to be posted throughout the next few months.

We host the podcast on and have enjoyed some excellent amounts of listens/downloads.  Our first episode is at 3,750 views and episode 7 has over 4,800.  We started off reviewing the current season of Doctor Who but since the end of that season we have discussed both classic and new series episodes.

Our group of fans talking about the episodes has varied slightly but it has been lots of fun every time. We are always open to suggestions on what episodes to discuss as well as new people to join our discussions. We are also looking for feedback in general.  Did you enjoy a particular episode?  Did you disagree with another?  Did we get something wrong?   If you have any input please email me at  Thanks

We have dabbled with the idea of posting the podcast on Itunes but still need a few things to complete that endeavor.

At the Gallifreyan Gazette site we had fallen behind on posting the latest episodes on the sidebar and on our podcast page and so that is now fixed.  The side bar is still not updated to present day but we will begin to catch up over the next few weeks.

Thank you to all who have listened and supported Into The Time Vortex.

To give you a preview of what Doctor Who episodes are coming up we have discussed episodes ranging from "Rose", "The Curse of Fenric", "The Horror of Fang Rock" and "The Tenth Planet."
Stay Tuned!

Doctor Who - The Trouble With Drax Details

June's 4th Doctor Adventure sees the return of a familiar Time Lord that was introduced in The Armageddon Factor.  Drax returns and trouble can't be to far behind.  You can get this release from the Big Finish website.

Altrazar. The temporal Atlantis, a place lost to time. Believed by many to be a myth, it has long been the perfect location for the rich and powerful to hide away their most dangerous secrets.

Until now.

Because the somewhat crooked, not exactly honest, wheeler-dealer cockney Time Lord known as Drax has found a map that leads to its location. And, at the behest of a manipulative businessman, he's going to use it.

When the TARDIS is dragged out of the space-time vortex, its crew aren't best pleased to see the Doctor's old school friend, even less when he pressgangs them into joining a raid on the most secure safe-house in history. However with Romana and K9 held hostage, the Doctor has little choice but to agree. With Drax in tow, he heads for the planet.

Which is where the trouble starts.
